GAME OF THE WEEK (6 – 9)
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS @ ARIZONA CARDINALS (-1, 49) GW [U]
This one is a tough call. The Red Birds have been struggling and Indy is holding opponents to 17 PPG in their last three and 21 for the year, good for ninth best in the league.
Arizona is missing two key components of their offense, RB James Connor and WR DeAndre Hopkins—which won’t help Kyler Murray in the consistency department.
The Cardinals are a .500 football team in the Toaster Oven they call a stadium; their only road loss was to the lowly Lions last week.
They are trending down…
Meanwhile the Colts have Jonathan Taylor—the NFL’s best back when Derek Henry isn’t playing. JT is averaging 5.2 YPR, Arizona gives up 4.6 YPR…
The Baby Horses will run all over a Cardinal defense still reeling from the 30-burger Detroit shoved down their gullet last week.
The Colts are the better team right now—play the Under…
Colts 30
Cardinals 13
LOCK OF THE WEEK (7 – 8)
CLEVELAND BROWNS @ GREEN BAY PACKERS (-7.5, 45.5) LW [O]
I almost overlooked this game, but the Browns have 22 guys on IR or in Covid protocol, including their starting center and QB, best WR, two defensive linemen, and three starting DBs, among many more.
Pouring salt into those wounds, their remaining A-Listers like Denzel Ward, Malik Jackson, and Myles Garret are all questionable with balky groins or knees. Ouch!
The Packers have Aaron Rodgers. Ouch again!
That’s really all I need to say—the Over is a Premium Play here.
Packers 33
Browns 15
UPSET SPECIAL (11 – 4 )
DETROIT LIONS @ ATLANTA FALCONS (-6.5, 43) US [U]
Atlanta has no business as a favorite against anyone in football.
Detroit has shown it can play with anyone, and they are performing lights out for Dan Campbell.
I love the guy—With the Draft capital Detroit has, Campbell’s leadership and some good luck, Detroit could morph into a NFC North contender for years to come
This is about the only legit Upset Special on the board…The Jungle Kings win outright—Under the Number…
Lions 22
Falcons 20
OVER/UNDER OF THE WEEK (9-6)
MIAMI DOLPHINS (-3, 38) @ NEW ORLEANS SAINTS O/U [O]
This is my Totals pick only because it the lowest Total of the week—if not year. Even if Ian Booke starts for the Holy Men, we gotta believe Sean Payton will find a way to use the rookie to negate Miami’s surprising six-game run.
Let’s not forget, the only quality team the Fish have beaten in their current streak was the Magpies in Week 11—a team with 20+ players on IR or in Covid protocol.
Miami is overrated and will be up against the 6th best scoring defense, and the league leader in Red Zone touchdown defense. In fact, in their last thee games, New Orleans has stopped opponents in the Red Zone 80% of the time.
I think the Holy Men win outright, Over the Total…
Rams 31
Seahawks 20
The rest of my picks in bold italic…
