It’s been 37 years since the Detroits nave been favored against the Packers at Lambeau Field--but they have earned that status as this Dan Campbell team is starting to reflect their coach’s tenacity, heart, and commitment.

We got the -1 line early Monday morning and will stay with it, even though it has moved up to -2--but it really doesn’t matter; the Lions have more talent and one of the biggest surprises of the year: Jared Goff is a top five quarterback in the NFL.

I never thoughtI’d write that as a serious sentence.

Recall when Goff was hustled out of L.A. In exchange for Matt Stafford and a handful of draft picks; he was supposed to be on a permanent downward trajectory. Another “potential” franchise QB who would have to wear the dreaded “journeyman” or worse, /’first round bust” label.

Here’s his stat line for this year:

• 2nd - net yards per passing play

• 3rd YPP thrown

• 5th best QB rating in football at 101.6.

• 6th Comp %

• 7th TDs

• Only been sacked 3 times...

For his career:

• 64.4%...as good as Big Ben and better than Matt Stafford--the guy he was traded for...

• 93.1 QB Rate--better than Stafford, Montana, and Marino.

His sample size is smaller, but he is a lot better than people think...

It’s a whole different world when a seemingly underachieving player finds a good coach who believes in him.

I wonder how far he can take the Lions...

Green Bay

The Packers like far too many teams in recent years are ravaged by injuries--and way too many of the soft tissue variety--to skill players. Green Bay WR Christian Watson, S Zayne Anderson, and RB Aaron Jones all yanked a hammie since Week One.

If they play, they could be risking further damage. That won’t help rookie QB, Jordan Young.

The Home Dog Packers will face a clearly better offense in Detroit--and a better defense.

Divisional game on a short week--play the Under.
