As usual there were a plethora of surprises in Week One--and many examples of NFL business as usual..

NFL WEEK TWO PICKS ATS
Never ceases to amaze me how accurate Vegas is on these point spreads, especially during September games where teams are sloppy, uncoordinated and only inches deep into the playbook.
Last year we started hot at 11-5 and struggled with our post-season picks ATS. Last week’s 6-10 tally demonstrates how unpredictable the first four weeks of the season are.
Let’s dig ourselves out of the hole we dug last week with a good Week Two performance.
GAME OF THE WEEK
Detroit Lions @ Buffalo Bills -3.5 52.5 GW [O]
We had this baby pegged perfectly from the start. It was the only contest worthy of GOW designation.
The Lions are overrated and the Dan Campbell’s honeymoon with Detroit fans seems to be ending with a well-deserved checkout from the Hotel Delusion ...
Josh Allen will be this year’s MVP, and the Bills are loaded with talent.
This one ended up exactly the way we thought it would.

LOCK OF THE WEEK
New Orleans Saints @ Baltimore Ravens -8.5 48.5 LW [U]
The Saints one-point, Week One loss to the Lions was not because the Holy Men are better than most people expect; the Lions defense stinks, their receiver room is overrated and their offensive line is hurting.
In Baltimore, the period of adjustment common to franchises with new head coaches and coaching staffs will not be as rocky for the Magpies as it will be for teams like Cleveland or the Raiders. New head honcho, Jesse Minter coached in the Charm City from, 2017-2020, has been successful in L.A. as the Bolts DC for the last two years. and DCed in Michigan under Jim Harbaugh. At every level, Minter’s defenses were ranked in the top five.
Minter is ready, and kudos to Ravens owner Steve Biscotti, and GM, Eric DeCosta for making the tough call letting future HOF coach, John Harbaugh go.
The cherry on the Ravens crab cake is their roster is legit top seven in the league, and Minter is focused on improving his defense and winning at M & T Bank Stadium, after a poor home-field record of 3-6 in 2025.
Last week, Saints HC, Kellen Moore watched the Detroits run over his boys for 130+ yards. Magpie RB, Derek Henry, is salivating; he should be. New Orleans is hoping the game day status of Baltimore WR, Zay Flowers, two starting offensive linemen, and two starting linebackers--all of whom are unable to practice or were injured most of the week, will give his Saints an opportunity to build on their comeback effort last Sunday.
We think the Crows are going to feast on an undermanned New Orleans squad in an electrified environment--Under the Total.

Cleveland Browns @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers -7.5 40.5 O/U
Could it be the Browns are becoming the Browns they’ve always been?
Wait. For it...
YES! As a Steelers fan, I can’t describe the joy answering that question brings me.
Tampa Bay had an opening week parade of mental mistakes in last week’s loss to Joe Burrow and the Striped Cats. We bet the intense Baker Mayfield, honing his craft against a Cleveland squad still in the Deshaun Watson quarterback purgatory, will be much more focused in Week Two.
The Browns only hope is that Mayfield loses three fumbles again this week. We don’t believe that will happen in the Mateys home opener.
We’ll play the Under/ and give up the 7.5 Points.

UPSET SPECIAL/STEELER GAME
Pittsburgh Steelers @ New England Patriots. -4.5 42.5 US [O]
This should be a pick-em game. Drake Maye and the Pats covered the 3.5 Spread last week against the Seahawks--but they lost, and were unimpressive doing so.
“Hate the Drake!”--or, I just don’t think he’s proven himself to be the real deal--yet.
In Pittsburgh, their 20-13 win over Atlanta was offensively unimpressive--but the “D” could be special. T.J. Watt might’ve made the defensive play of the year--during the first week of the season.
D.K. Metcalf dropped three very catchable longish passes; A-A-Ron Rodgers overthrew at least that many wide-open receivers
The coaching is equally excellent in this match-up; we give the Black & Gold an advantage at QB and on defense--more than enough
Pittsburgh Covers, and should win outright. We’ll go with the Over, believing Rodgers will make the throws he missed in Week One.
