When: Sunday, January 18 at 3:00 pm ET
Where: Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts
Channel: ESPN / ABC
Total: Over 40.5 (-115), Under 40.5 (-110
Houston Texans @ New England Patriots. -3.5 40.5. [O]
The Texans defense is dominating, and we don’t see the Pats having the offensive talent to overcome that dominance.
From VSIN.com
Houston has also been good in these types of games under DeMeco Ryans. The Texans are 10-2 against the spread when playing on the road in games with totals between 35.5 and 42 points under Ryans. They’re also 8-5 ATS as road underdogs of 7 or fewer points, and they’re 17-8 ATS when facing teams with winning records in that span. Zach Cohen
We also can’t look at NE’s schedule and feel good about their chances on a cold, windy day in the American Northeast.
I think the Shit-Kickers should be a field goal favorite here.
We’ll take that hook and the Under.
Houston. 23
New England 17
When: Sunday, January 18 at 6:30 pm ET
Where: Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois
Channel: NBC / Peacock
Moneyline: Rams -198 Bears +164
Los Angeles Rams vs. Chicago Bears. +3.5. 48.5. [U]
I’m a big Ben Johnson fan; he’s not afraid to be himself, he’s a hell of an offensive mind, and
I don’t have doubt one he can’t beat Sean McVay’s Rams as a 3.5 Underdog.
Johnson’s “Fuck the Packers” rant is being decried by Cheese Brains as unprofessional...
WAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!
Personally, I want my Coach to respect but hate every opponent--and division rivals exponentially more.
Sadly, the media criticism of Johnson’s reaction contrasts greatly with Steeler fan’s, and the general public’s reactions to Mike Tomlin doing this after a Rat Bird field goal sailed wide right making Pittsburgh AFC North Champions:
Any honest observer who can read, knows knows the vitriol toward the former Steelers coach has been a reality his entire career. I’m not talking about legitimate knocks toward Mike Tomlin-- a decade of playoff futility, seven post-season blowouts, personnel decisions et al--I’m talking the poorly veiled racism because of the man’s skin color.
(I know, this game, or column, is not about Coach Tomlin so, I’ll just leave this link and let you explore the issue on your own. If you want a true sense of the racist reality Tomlin endured., take a gander at the comments below this PG column
THE GAME
The Game Logs offer this handicapper all the insight he needs to call a winner:
Los Angeles lost five games, four of them to playoff team--by a total of 13 points...
They beat ten of twelve opponents by 7 or more points--eight of those were blowout wins, (+13-points or more)...
The Big Horns compete in the NFL’s best division, consisting of three 12-win playoff teams...
The Matchup Stats tell us this story:
L.A.’s offense, measured any way you like is elite:: Top two in PPG...YPG...Points per Play...TDs per Game...
Chicago’s Turnover numbers are the league standard across the board...
Both teams make opponents pay for TOs Chicao ranks 3rd (98 points) and the Rams 4th (88 points) in points generated from them.
Chicago led the NFL in takeaways (33) and turnover differential (+22) during the regular season. Da Bears were best when forcing multiple turnovers (9-0)...
Los Angeles wins a close coaching comparison due to exoerience; Matt Stafford is elite; despite his recent excellence, Caleb Williams is not.
Lay the Chalk, we’re sticking with the Under.
Rams 30
Bears 17
