The Atlanta Falcons have yet to enter the Red Zone during their first two games, and third string QB, Cooper Rush, naturally takes most of the blame for that glaring offensive ineptitude.
I’m not so sure that’s justified, and/or I am not convinced Michael Penix Jr.-- second in line after injured starter Tua Tagovailoa, is going to be that much of an upgrade. Accuracy demands we give MPJ his due: in nine games last season, the, now, third year QB out of Washington via Indiana, threw for almost 2000 yards with nine touchdowns and three INTs, but he’s coming off his second ACL tear. He suffered the same injury late in the 2020 campaign with the Hoosiers.
I’m not going to bash Kevin Stefanski’s talent as a head coach of the woeful Browns--as enjoyable as that might be...But, trying to make Cleveland an NFL force is a lot like trying to win the Kentucky Derby riding Mr. Ed. (For you young ‘uns out there MR. ED was a sitcom that ran for 143 episodes dfom 1961-'65 and featured a talking horse that found creative ways to torture his owner--he was the only human who could hear Mr. Ed talk.) Freaking hilarious.
Here’s the whole story:
Point being, Coach Stefanski didn’t have a lot to work with in Northwest Ohio--and his stable of talent is not much better in Atlanta. Even though TE, Michael Pittman is a true stud, the Falcons have too many question marks to win at Green Bay’s home opener.
The Sharps agree. The line on this contest is up to 7.5 at some books. I caught 4.5 yesterday. The Packers have the better roster, coach, quarterback, and fans--and the 4.5 Spread compels us to make this our OVER/UNDER game of the week.
